[atrb=width,240] The day had started off horribly which left Aurora in an irritable mood, one which resulted from arguing with her mother earlier that morning. It wasn’t as if she had gotten up late enough, but the elder witch just had to voice her opinions on most of her antics within the last year. What she had decided to do with her life had been just that, her choice. She had never been the type to let other people think or speak for her. And, unlike her parents, she would not watch from the sidelines while others fought and died for what they believed in. That was exactly what Aurora was doing, taking action in a cause she strongly believed in. Blood preservation was extremely important in her eyes and most of the pure-blood families were dying out at it was. Her parents supported The Dark Lord and the death eaters, but they weren’t exactly willing to die fighting for him. While Rainer chose to allow their daughter to do whatever she wished –she was of age after all- Daisy had been rather weary about her fighting. Daisy had voiced this concern for her only child over breakfast before Aurora had left for working, pointedly expressing that it was against her deepest wishes for her to put her life on the line like that. Naturally, Ava countered her mother stating that once you were in then you were in for life, if you wanted out then you died. Simple as that, The Dark Lord had made it very clear he would not have anyone backing out on him should it get “too scary”. She also informed her that this indeed was her life and therefore her risk, she understood what was at stake perfectly well. No matter how hard her mother struggled to get a grasp on Aurora, this particular witch would always slip right back out of it. There was no controlling her or changing her mind once her heart was set on something, no matter how disturbing or unethical the decision was. After getting tired of hearing twenty minutes of nonstop bickering between the two females of the house, Aurora’s father silenced his wife and sent his daughter on her way. Bidding good day to both of her parents, Ava disapparated and appeared right outside the ministry. It was the usual hustle and bustle that it normally was every morning. People were coming and going, many of them stopping to chat with others in passing before continuing on their ways. Ava wasn’t one of those who chose to stop but chose to keep going to her department, nodding to those higher up than her and initially, of greater importance than she. Occasionally, she would catch sight of someone from her own department of who she knew from her years in Hogwarts, she would either give a tight lipped smile or roll her eyes when they tried to catch her attention. Going through the usual procedures, Ava handed over her wand to a portly witch with curly blond hair and murky brown eyes “Ava Thatcher, Obliviator Department.”, she said with an air of boredom in her voice. This had been an every day thing for almost two years now, and she would have imagined this witch would have known her name by now. Come to think of it, Ava didn’t know the name of the witch before her nor did she care to. It took for what seemed like forever for the witch to process her wand and the information she had been given before Aurora finally heard her say “Right, there you are Miss Thatcher,” handing her wand back and a name tag, all with a pleasant smile “You have a pleasant day now.” Pinning the tag to the front of her robes, Aurora nodded before heading on to her department once more. Headed towards the upper level –where her department was located- Ava ran into a few more people from her department, it seemed that it had been a slow day already. Seeing as there were so many people going around taking care of other things, it could be assumed that nothing of consequence had happened that morning. At the correct department Ava looked at her tray and saw there was some paper work that needed to be complete. Seeing the stack sitting there brought back memories from the previous evening where she had taken up a double shift. Someone had bewitched a bed set in a muggle shop to strangle the sleeper. A muggle woman had bought it for her son and later that night she heard the muffled screaming coming from the boys’ room, when she went to see what was wrong she saw it was wrapped around his neck and tightening. One of the neighbors –a mud-blood, no doubt- heard what was happening and alerted the proper authorities, who showed up on the scene and saved the young boy. It was a mess to clean up afterwards, and her department had to modify the memories of the entire family plus many neighbors who had heard of what happened and were proceeding to talk of the incident. Needless to say that Ava was exhausted and irritated when she arrived home that evening, especially once her mother started on her about double shifts being too much for a woman to handle. That seemed to boost her irritation and started an argument between the two of them, much like the one they had earlier that morning. Drawing herself out of the memory Ava went to her cubicle and began filling out the paperwork that had been left for her. Or, she was trying to. It just seemed like every time she would start to actually do her job, something distracted her. Between the distraction of her surroundings and the irritation her mother had left her with, Ava wasn’t quite sure which was the ultimate reason. | [atrb=width,140] words , 898 words tagged , Ava Thatcher & Whoever notes , Icon credit goes to Bella doesn't have a swan?
