This seriously wasn’t fair was the first thought that had crossed Sirius’s mind as he walked with Remus through the corridor. It wasn’t as if the pranking had been his…oh wait. Yes it was. Sirius shook his head and scowled at his thoughts. Not to mention his stomach which was rumbling again. Okay this seriously isn’t fair, he thought. Why did Minnie have to assign detention at dinner time? A grin started to unfold across his lips. ‘Minnie’ was the nickname he had personally given to Professor McGonagall. He even had detention because he had accidently let it slip during Transfiguration class when she had barked at him to pay attention. And of course he had told her ‘Yes Minnie!’. Little giggles broke throughout the classroom. He had never seen McGonagall that stern in his years at Hogwarts. Sirius could have sworn she had even blushed.
That was before she told him the now infamous words: Detention Black. Sirius had been in detention more times than he could count. And about half of them were with James. This was probably the first time that he had ever spent with Remus. The good boy. The one with the perfect badge. There was a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He remembered him and James had teased him about the badge. Now that James was the Head Boy this year. At least he hadn’t let that gone to his head yet, he mused. There was an amused expression on his face now. James had told them that none other than Lily Evans was the Head Girl and Sirius had wondered why would Dumbledore even give James that position. The two were known as the troublemakers throughout Hogwarts. Something that Sirius held with pride. In truth Sirius missed the good old days.
He was pulled out of his thoughts as Remus was talking to the paintings they were passing by. Sirius stood there quietly with an eyebrow raised. He glanced at his friend as they continued walking and idly wondered when the next full moon would be. He was getting restless and bored and wanted to go exploring in the forest. Granted he could probably do that later on tonight out of his own free will but it was so much better when the whole Marauder gang was around. The black haired seventeen year old shook his head as he couldn’t help but to let out a snort. “It’s Minnie Moon. Knowing her she would probably have food. Man I’m starving,” he added forlornly. “Why did she give us the dinner detention of all times?” Seriously right now Sirius would be sitting beside James and Remus and Peter and stuffing his face. That was what he usually did. But not tonight.
“All I hope it would be quick and painless tonight,” Sirius added with a nod, glancing at the wooden door with a resentful look. “Although I would say Prongs must have been completely surprised to find out that you had gotten detention also,” he put in with a sheepish look. He stuffed his hands into the pocket of his robes. He felt his wand against his hand and relaxed. There was probably never a time in his life that he had gone without it. He hummed tunelessly to himself as he glanced from the door and at Remus. Surely he wouldn’t be the one to open the ‘door of doom’ as he put it. [/size]
