Mary took a deep breath. So this was it? The beginning of seventh year started on the train ride to Hogwarts. And here she was standing at the train, ready to say goodbye to her parents. Yet as Mary turned to tell them bye, her throat was closed. Goodbye seemed so painful to her, perhaps it was just because she couldn't believe that her final year at school had finally arrived. Come this time next year she would no longer be living at home, but -hopefully- working at St. Mungo's. Where had all the time gone? Mary didn't know where but she did know that it was racing past her and she wanted it to stop. It wasn't going to, time had to pass...no matter how quickly. Bringing herself back to actuality Mary hugged her father first. This hug seemed to last longer than any other hug before, Mary knew this sort of embrace...it was one of a man trying to hold on to his little girl, to keep her from growing up anymore. She held to her father tightly, trying to ensure him that no matter what age she would always be his little girl, in one simple hug. Before she pulled away Mary whispered "I love you so much, Daddy." and kissed him on the cheek, trying not to cry.
She had promised herself that she was not going to cry. It wasn't as if she would never see her parents again, 'but you might not' said a voice in her head. Telling that though that she was going to see her parents, she would see them at Christmas, Mary made to hug her Mother. The woman was already in tears, though they went through this every year for the last seven years now. Pretty much jumping on her mother, Mary held on and never wanted to let go. She was going to miss her mothers hugs though most. They were always there when needed. Sure, mother was always hard on Mary but that was only because she wanted her daughter to be the best that she could be. True, it was a little excessive at times but in her own way Mary appreciated it. The excessive pushing and prodding was what made Mary the seventeen year old that stood there. The one who tried her hardest and if she failed she tried even harder. Her mother was really the one who was to be thanked. Yes, her father got some credit in this too seeing that he was always the one to pick her up when she fell. Mary would be forever grateful for that as well. They really did mold a fine young lady.
The embrace with her mother seemed to last forever, but Mary didn't mind. It could have lasted a life time and she would have cherished every minute. She complained about her parents a lot but she really did love them. This couldn't go on forever, she woudl miss her train for school. Using this as an important enough reason Mary broke away from her mother, kissing her on the cheek and saying "I love you Mum, I'll write you every day, I promise." and that she would most certainly do. Or else when she actually had the time. She knew that this was going to be a rather difficult year, what with N.E.W.T's and all. This was bound to be a most challenging year. A small smile on her face, Mary said goodbye to her parents once more and the walked onto the train, more than ready for her journey to school one more time. It was a very exciting but frightening feeling that was coursing through her body at the moment. It felt good though, to be saying she had made it this far.
Automatically Mary found an empty compartment. She knew that it wasn't going to be hard being that she was one of the first students on the Hogwarts Express. Settled in, Mary propped herself up on her knees to look out the window. She smiled when she saw that her parents were still there, waiting to for the train to take off. They did that every year, it was somewhat of a tradition of theirs. Mary sat back and relaxed while other Hogwarts students, new and old, piled on the train after having said their goodbyes to their families. Once the train started to move Mary got back into the window and waved to her parents until they had completely disappeared from her view. Then she sat back down, muttering "Here we go." to herself. She was more determined to make this year worth it than ever.
