The afternoon on what was, according to Reila, the hottest day of the summer so far, found her and her family visiting the bookshop in Diagon Alley, Flourish and Blotts. Zach was standing by their father, Kevin, looking bored and was already asking when they could go home. Reila wanted to smack him as her sister was standing close to her. The fifteen year old glanced down at Hailey, her expression softening. She raised her head to glance wearily at her father, already wanting to wonder around. “Father may I wonder around?” Reila asked. To get away from this idiot I call a brother? Kevin glanced down at his eldest child. She had a look of innocence on her face as he nodded. “Don’t stray too far now Aureila,” he warned. There was a look in his eyes that she knew all too well by this point. “And remember what I taught you. Stay away from Mudbloods,” Reila nodded silently as she bit down on the inside of her cheeks to keep her thoughts to herself. “Yes Father,” she replied with a sigh. Kevin nodded as Reila happily wondered off, shaking her head slightly. Despite all of her father’s warnings and teachings, Reila still couldn’t understand the prejudices of some people. It wasn’t right, she thought to herself. How on earth would they know if one was a pureblood just by looking at them.
Aureila came from an old pureblood family. All of whom was sorted into Slytherin except for her sister. Hailey had been sorted into Ravenclaw, much to everyone’s surprise and to the disappointment of their father. A Howler had been sent the following morning and she couldn’t help but to feel sorry for the youngest Thomas. She strolled through the different aisles, completely lost in her thoughts. She reached out with her left hand and started to play with her necklace, which held only a teddy bear charm. It was a gift from Kevin on her birthday. Her hair was pulled up into a half ponytail again today. This time leaving out two strands so that they would hang down from her face. Her eyes were a stormy shade of grey today. Her hair the usual blonde. There was nothing unusual about her appearance except that she was a Metamorphmagus. It was something that she loved having ever since she was born. Her mother had often told her that her hair started changing color the minute she was born. It was unusual because as far as she knew no one in her family had that power. It was odd but Reila loved it. Pulling herself out of her thoughts she started to pay attention to where she was at in the bookstore.
She often did this. Being lost in her thoughts and wondering around. She was ready to get away from her family. Reila was ready to go back at Hogwarts and being with her housemates. Goodness knows she needed a break from them. Her ears pricked up, hearing Zach and Kevin talking softly and scowled as she picked up her steps. Her eyes flashing with anger. She wanted to be far away from them as possible. She wasn’t too fond of either one of them at the present being. The fifteen year old was starting to become lost in her thoughts again as she bumped into someone. She took a step back and scowled, shaking her head as she was jolted back to reality. “Watch where-” Reila’s words died in her throat as she saw who she had ran into. She had heard plenty of rumors about him. She saw him play on the Quidditch team. Grumbling to herself she straightened and removed the silver and green cloak only to tighten it around her once more. Of all the people that she had to walk into to why must it have been him. “Good afternoon,” she said stiffly.

Reila couldn’t help but to turn pink, either from embarrassment or shame it was hard to tell. It was more than likely anger. Anger at herself for not watching where she was going. She raised her head to glare at him. Merlin he looked a lot like her father when she was caught doing something that she shouldn’t have been. “You know Potter, you should judge other people before you act like the-” Whatever the young girl was going to say it was interrupted by her sister. Hailey glanced up at James shyly as she pulled the Ravenclaw scarf tight. “Yes Hals?” Reila inquired looking down at her sister with a look of fondness. A look of warmth that wasn’t there before when she had glared at James previously. “Father wanted me to tell you that they would be at Twilfigs & Tattings.” Reila nodded. “Don’t forget what I told you. Ignore him. I’m proud of you being in Ravenclaw.” Hailey grinned at her as she turned and walked off.
The blonde haired girl watched her sister with a protective look. Once she was sure that Hailey was out of sight and safe she turned to him with a knowing smirk. “Now where were we Potter?” Her sister’s arrival had distracted her from her situation, which was a good thing. Her eyes narrowed slightly. “The fault lies with me,” she told him with her eyes starting to blaze. “I wasn’t watching where I was going and that’s perhaps the last time that I would ever admit that to you.” Honestly, just because Reila was a Slytherin doesn’t mean that she acted…okay scratch that. She was starting to pick up on some values of her housemates. An awkward silence started to fall between the two and she shifted a little before breaking it. “That was my sister Hailey. She started her first year at Hogwarts and while my family was in Slytherin she was sorted into Ravenclaw,”
While she was telling James all of this Reila could still see it in her mind’s eye. The summer that the children had arrived at the mansion their father started torturing her. She never agreed to his views but she had keep her mouth shut. “And don’t you dare think I hate her,” Reila told him sternly. “As far as I’m concerned I meant it when I said I was proud of her,” If her father had heard her saying those things to James she would never see the light of day again. She would be confined to her room while her brother was revealing in the glory that his sister was grounded. The young girl took a deep breath as she stuck her hands in her pockets. One of her hands brushed against her wand. She pulled it out and glanced at it absentmindly. Her eyes glazed over for a couple of minutes.
“Are you an only child?” Reila found herself asking him. She mentally started to kick herself. Why was she asking him such questions? Her eyes turned a sapphire blue. She couldn’t imagine this day getting any worse but she had a feeling that it would. “I’m the eldest of two. My family’s an old pureblood family.” There was something that Reila didn’t add because she knew she would end up being throttled by Kevin. Both of her parents were supports of Voldemort. Or at least her mother was. Her father was a Death Eater. Reila knew that Zach would end up being a Death Eater as well. He practically worshipped the ground that Kevin walked on. Before they knew it Zach would end up as Kevin’s clone. And that was the last thing that she needed.

Reila just stared straight at the books with a glazed look in her eyes. She was daydreaming again. Or rather remembering the day that Hailey was made a Ravenclaw. She shook her head biting on the inside of her cheeks to keep herself from saying anything. Her eyes narrowed a bit as he commented on the fact that it was a surprise for her to admit to that. “I may be a Slytherin,” she said with a hint of a growl. “But I’m not an idiot like the rest of them.” Her temper was surprisingly very calm. Although she would admit that she didn’t want to cause a scene in a bookstore. Her father would surely punish her for causing trouble. The fifteen year old shifted a little. She felt a bit uneasy at the mere thought of being under Kevin’s punishments. Reila had gone through enough of them at the age of eight. Stupid pureblood manners, she thought shaking her head slightly. Why couldn’t she had been born into just a regular family?
It would have made her life a lot more easier. Oh well, the fifteen year old thought with a small sigh. Learn to be grateful with what you have. My life could have been a lot worse, she noted silently. Born into a pureblood family with a father who wished that she was born a boy. Very much worthy, she thought with a note of sarcasm. She leaned up against the bookshelf looking up at the black haired boy. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly at his words. “You would think that wouldn’t you?” she sneered. “How would you feel if your father had tortured your sister in front of your eyes and was told that you had to stay put? I bet you wouldn’t like that at all!” She struggled in keeping her voice down. “The one sister who didn’t try to annoy you to death like your younger brother!” She took a deep breath, trying to keep her temper under control now. She would very much wanted nothing better to do than to curse him. Right then and there. But she knew better than to do that.
Her eyes were a steal grey. “Now everything that you had been taught from childhood you don’t believe anymore. Just cause someone broke the family tradition of being sorted into Slytherin.” She took the chance to catch her breath. She was sure she was going to have a mental breakdown. And that wouldn’t have been good. “So no. I don’t hate it that Hailey is in Ravenclaw. She’s my little sister,” The young blonde haired girl shrugged. “The rest of my family were in Slytherin. My sister’s sorting though...made me wonder if there was a distance…oh never mind,” Reila added in hastily turning a shade of crimson. “You probably already think that I’m weird enough as it is,” She took a deep breath, trying to get herself under control. Her temper was explosive.
The fifth year quickly bit down on her tongue to keep herself from saying that she wished she was him. It certainly sounded better than her life at any rate. “I don’t know what to believe anymore,” she grumbled under her breath. Everything was all messed up now. Sure there were times that she wished Hailey was a Slytherin instead of a Ravenclaw. It would have probably made things more easier. But Reila supposed that she was made to be in Ravenclaw just like her and Zach were made to be in Slytherin just like the rest of her family. Silence fell between them. A very awkward silence for Reila as she continued to glance at her wand before putting it away slowly.
