Andromeda pulled her dark purple robes on with a sigh, today was the day that she was taking Nymphadora to get her first pet. She and Ted had been discussing it for a few days now, and they decided they would allow her a cat...they were easier than anything else and age appropriate for a child no older than three. Meda wasn't too big on the idea of an animal living in their home but this was a great way to start teaching Dora some responsibility. Besides, Andromeda got her first cat, Midnight, when she was about three or four. Oh how she loved that cat. He was black as night with bright green eyes, and he was her best friend. Andromeda never did find out what really happened to him. Her mother said he ran away but Bellatrix tauntingly told her that the cat shredded up her favorite dress robes so she dealt with him her own way. Knowing Midnight and Bellatrix's low tolerance, it was probably true. Andromeda missed her cat, but that was years ago and this was her present.
Quickly making sure that they had everything they needed Andromeda grabbed Nymphadora's hand and told her husband goodbye. Ted kissed their daughter on the forehead and Andromeda passionately, then told her that if he wasn't there when they got home, he was working. Hating the days that Ted would go in on what were supposed to be his days off Andromeda asked "What do you mean you'll be at work?" raising one eyebrow as she said this. They hardly had much time together as it was, it infuriated her when he went in when he should have been home. True Andromeda wasn't going to be home for about two hours but she was doing something for their daughter and Ted chose to stay home. Now he was telling her that he would probably go into work. Catching sight of the look on his wife's face Ted explained how they possibly would need him for a little while and he was considering going in. Andromeda sighed and shook her head before picking their daughter up, "Fine, but you better be home for supper." She told him before throwing powder down, stepping into the fire, shouting her destination, and with the green flames she was gone.
Seconds later Andromeda and Nymphadora were coming out of the fireplace in The Leaky Cauldron, and once they were steady Andromeda dusted both of them off. Once Dora was cleaned off Meda set the three year old back down to let her walk, but held her hand. Staying to talk for a moment with Tom, Andromeda and Dora were soon walking down the cobbled streets of Diagon Alley, towards the Magical Menagerie. As they were walking Nymphadora was humming loudly to herself, every now and then trying to let her mothers hand go, wanting desperately to run ahead. The little girl knew exactly where she was going, how many times had they stopped by to look at the pets? Too many to count, Nymphadora asked them time and time again for a pet. They were just now obliging, Andromeda hoping that they wouldn't regret their decision in the end. Not even ten minutes later they were at the right shop and Dora pretty much had to drag her mother in. Now she laughed at her daughters eagerness to look at the animals inside, probably trying to hurry and see what kind of pet she would be allowed to bring home with them.
Her shoe was slipping from walking and Andromeda needed to fix it but as she bent over to do just that Nymphadora tugged at her arm so hard that she nearly fell over. Regaining her balance Andromeda tugged at the back of her she and then straightened back up. Sounding slightly irritated, as if they had been standing in the same spot for hours, Dora told her mother "Mummy, huwwy. I want a kitty!" impatience ringing in her voice. Andromeda laughed as it reminded her exactly of how she, Andromeda, acted at three year old. Opening the door Andromeda allowed her little girl to lead the way in and to some cages along the wall. Each cage had a different cat inside and a few even had kittens in them. Dora was looking excitedly at every cat she saw. Glad to see her daughter so happy, Andromeda crouched down next to her and said "You can get a kitten and keep it for a long time." watching as her little girls face lit up at the very idea of it.

Marlene was out doing some school shopping, her list had come by owl that morning and she was excited that school was coming up in a few short weeks. It was Marlene's seventh and final year at Hogwarts! She couldn't have been anymore excited then she was when the books list came. Sure, she was taking some tough subjects this year but Marlie knew she could handle all of them, she worked well under pressure which was perfect. This was going to be a great year, she was absolutely sure of that. After saying goodbye to her parents Marlene disapparated and with a resounding pop, found herself in Diagon Alley. It was actually a dark alley that lead into Diagon Alley, keeping in mind where she was Marlene had her wand out until she got out of said Alley. She didn't want to take any chances with Death Eaters or any other creeps about. Her parents raised her to be ready for anything, and ready she was.
Out of the alley Marlene stuck her wand in her back pocket and pulled her Gryfindor cardigan closer around her. As she got to the many shops set up in Diagon Alley Marlie looked down at her school list to see what she would be getting first. At first all she saw was the usual school writing but at the very end of her list, her mother's neat handwriting spelled out the word "Cat." which made Marlene smile. She had been begging for her own cat since first year but her parents insisted that she didn't need one when they had the family owl. It was probably the fact that Marlene was in her seventh year at school that made her parents finally cave and let her get what she wanted. It really meant a lot to her, something so little was still so big at the same time. Happily Marlene started to head towards The Magical Menagerie, saying hello to every friendly face she saw. Walking down the narrow, cobbled streets of Diagon Alley Marlene saw a few friends from Hogwarts as well as a few not so friendly people she had encountered over the last six almost seven years.
Passing the few shops that she had to Marlene continued her friendly attitude. Seeing the word cat on her list was really making Marlie's day, she couldn't have been any happier than she already was. So as she finally made it to the shop that she needed to be in, she didn't bother hesitating to go inside. As soon as she pulled the door open bells jingled and the smell of animals hit her. All the different animal smells weren't pleasant together but having been in there multiple times, Marlene wasn't bothered too much by it. Once she was in the first place she started off to was where the cats where. There were cats of different sizes, colors, breeds, genders. It was a whole assortment of feline. However the cats weren't the first thing that caught her attention this time.
It was a little girl with her mother that Marlene would recognize anywhere. At first Marlie thought the girl was her sister but the little girl close to her gave away the fact that it was Andromeda. They weren't the best of friends but there was a certain level of respect between the two of them. Marlene thought very highly of Andromeda for following her heart and marrying the man she loved. A bright smile on her face Marlene came up behind Andromeda and tapped her on the shoulder, waiting for her to turn around.

Andromedawas busy watching her daughter get all excited about being allowed to pick out a pet, so far it was like Nymphadora was leaning more towards a pretty little kitten that had white fur, black and grey paws and the brightest blue eyes that she had ever seen. But the three year old was as indecisive as ever and kept running back and forth between the different cages trying to decide which one she absolutely wanted to take home with them. Feeling a little bit impatient Andromeda felt like telling Dora to hurry and pick one out so they could go home, but she felt it was best not to do that and let her little one have some fun thinking about it. While Dora was busy being miss undecided Andromeda looked at the same cat that had reminded her of the cat from her early Hogwarts years, she really did love that cat…it kept all her secrets and it kept them rather well. It not being able to talk to humans probably had a lot to do with it. Andromeda was feeling rather sad at the thought of Midnight, that was her first pet and it reminded her of how much she really did long to have her sisters back in her life. But neither Midnight magically showing back up nor being as close to Bellatrix and Narcissa again was going to happen. They were all silly ideas coming from her partially longing for the past. No she didn’t regret the choices she made because they made her the happiest that she had ever been, but she wished things had turned out differently.
She then moved from the black cat on to a yellowish looking one, this one did not look friendly at all and for that Andromeda was silently praying that this was not going to be the cat they took home with them. It looked like it might attack Dora if she merely looked at it wrong. Fortunately for her the three year old dismissed this cat entirely as she ran to the black cat that Andromeda had been looking at seconds before. “I like this one mummy…he’s pwetty.” The little girl said which made Andromeda smile, it seemed like they had a similar taste in pets at the age of three. Smile in tact she told her daughter “I like him too. I had a cat just like him when I was a little girl,” to which Nymphadora looked at Andromeda with a look of shock, as if she was surprised her mother was ever a little girl when she so obviously wasn’t now. At the look on Dora’s face Andromeda nodded her head enthusiastically before saying “He was my best friend for a long time. I named him Midnight.” With a small smile etched into her features. Nymphadora, being the silly little girl that she was, jumped onto her mother and wrapped her arms around her neck before exclaiming “I want see you Midnight!” and pulling the small arms from around her neck Andromeda shook her head, “Midnight ran away a long time ago, I don’t have him anymore.” She explained and what she got was an “Oh, I’m sowwy Mummy.” To this Andromeda put her hands up as if to say don’t worry about it.
Okay so her response about Midnight might have been a lie but now Andromeda would never know the truth, it had been so long since she had seen that cat that there was no telling where he was. For all she knew he was dead or else he was out having the time of his life, with little Midnights of his own. Well, wherever he was Andromeda hoped that he was happy and not suffering at all. Andromeda was looking at the selection of other cats along the aisle when she felt a light tapping on her shoulder. Just as she was about to turn around and see who it was Nymphadora started to jump up and down happily saying “Mah-Nee! Mah-Nee!” which Andromeda knew was how Dora said Marlene, not being able to say Marlene yet. She thought how her little girl pronounced the name was adorable; it was definitely not a pronunciation that Andromeda would be able to forget. Now knowing who it was Andromeda turned around and saw the dark haired beauty standing there. Marlene was truthfully a gorgeous girl but in a more subtle way, not totally obvious like it was with the Black family. “Hello Marlene.” She said in a very friendly manner, waiting for the girl to say hello back. they were on a first name basis but they weren’t what you would call best friends.
